Ladies Who Launch

Hello Lovely Readers,

One of the perks of being an intern with Greta Constantine is sometimes being lucky enough to tag along with them to Toronto's fashionable events ;)  I'm not really very good at being a social butterfly, but this past month I got plenty of practice hobnobbing with the fashion flock.  Also, I'm not sure if it was by miraculous coincidence or some subconscious self-challenge, but I designed/made a dress for each event (I actually had sewn another dress for the second-last event, which I will wear and post later, but I wore one of the same dresses again instead).  Anyways, I'll try and give you the run-down on all the events...it's another lengthy post, so get ready!

Exhibit A: The Grid Launch Party

The Grid is Toronto's new weekly magazine, replacing Eye Weekly.  As with all the events, drinks and hors d'œuvres were served :)  There was also a cool light show near the DJ.

the atmosphere inside was very blue...even the people looked blue

Exhibit B: TNT's (The New Trend) 20th Anniversary / Greta Constantine Primer Launch

GC's amazing capsule collection, Primer, is a T-shirt line consisting of embellished tanks and draped tees.
Besides Toronto's usual fashion suspects, there was another celebrity there - Nicole Richie!!!  Both her collections (Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960) are available at TNT and, therefore, she was the special guest of the evening.

& I'm too lazy to photoshop it...maybe later ;)

Exhibit C: Greta Constantine x Danier Leather SKIN Launch Party

The six-look collection was held at the Neubacher Shor Contemporary gallery, which was a space almost as amazing as the collection.  The SKIN ad campaign (shot by Gabor Jurina, starring Madison Schill) was featured on expansive white walls, adding to the beautiful exposed brick of the building.  The collection itself, in a range of lovely earthy hues, was displayed on artsy mannequins.

Exhibit D: Mercedes-Benz StartUp Launch Party

Mercedes-Benz, in collaboration with IMG and the Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) is launching an emerging Canadian fashion designer competition.  It will be interesting to see if this program takes off - let's hope for the best!

This time, it was through my IMG-insider friend
Amy that I got an invite :)  And I brought my fashion pal Stefanie Bezaire along for the 'ride' ;)

rarrrrr! red hot ;)
I have a weakness for convertibles...

Also, Stef and I were featured on je suis tv's fashion video-blog!  Here we are (at 0:33 & 1:47):

And finally, Exhibit E: Crown Bar and Lounge Launch

Kirk and Stephen hosted the grand opening of Crown Bar and Lounge.  It was a very swanky place (as seen in the photos via Facebook - Crown Lounge, courtesy JJ Thompson).

But my favourite part of the night was the filpbook studio - I included some of the photos of the Greta Gang below for fun, even though they aren't very good quality...

And one more thing, for those Twilight fans out there, Robert Pattinson was there ;)  no joke.

one final twirl before I go...

Ciao for now :)
