Exciting Exhibit Excursions - Part 2

Dear Readers,

I'm baaack...with part deux!  Besides my visit to NYC, the other place I traveled to this summer was Montréal!  I had only been there once before for a couple of days, so I was pretty excited about going there again.  During my visit, I stayed with my darling friend, wonderful cellist, and tour guide extraordinaire, Marie-Cristine Pelchat St-Jacques :)  Other than visiting Marie and exploring Montréal, I was able to go to the exhibit The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier, From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts!  Actually, my previous visit to Montréal just happened to coincide with the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the MMFA.  Both exhibits were very well presented!  The Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit was fun to visit because it was humorous as well as beautiful and gave you a real sense of JPG's personality.  The mannequins had computerized faces and some of them would speak or sing :)  Here are some of my favourite pieces:

And here are some of the other fun things I did during my visit:

Montréal's Italian Week - complete with an outdoor opera
& the best cannolis I've ever eaten!

Rue Bernard in Outremont
Cheskie's bakery - get the B&W cookie!!!

Fairmont Bagel...yum!
St. Denis (I think)
poutine :)
Café Névé - best café au lait
Bella Pella!
shopping with Marie :)
The Village - they were also having a festival...

you have to go to Simons...
Place des Arts
Chinatown
Notre Dame Basilica in Old Montréal
Petite Alep - so yummy!
Jean-Talon market

So, there you have it.  My summer excursions :)  It seems like I mostly ate things in Montréal lol!

Well, until next time, or à bientôt!

Corinne

  2. I can't wait for the Gaultier exhibit to come here to San Francisco in Feb! And I saw your older post in NYC. I was in NYC twice this year too and saw the McQueen exhibit at the Met too (speechless) and posted so many architectural photos.
