The adorable Colin Firth & Anne Hathaway |
Hello Film & Fashion Lovers,
I was so excited for the Academy Awards last night! Which films/actors would take home an Oscar? I'm so glad The King's Speech won for Best Picture! How would the hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco do? It was a pretty Anne-dominated-but-otherwise-basic presentation, but I did like their opening sequence and loved the music video mash-up...so funny. I also liked the King's Speech voice-over lead-up to the Best Picture winner, even if it was a little bit strangely prophetic ;) But the most important question, for me anyway, was who would wear who?!
Let's start with Anne Hathaway, who wore a total of eight outfits during the night.
Here are my pics for her best looks:

My absolute favourite dress of the night was the sweet Marchesa number the young Oscar Nominee Hailee Steinfeld wore. She is just adorable! It's so perfect for her and her age - sweet but sophisticated. I love the sparkly sheer top of the bodice. Her headband is a lovely touch and her shoes are to die for!!

There were a few other nude- and blush-tone gowns besides Hailee's last night, but the only other one I really liked was the Chanel dress Michelle Williams wore. Very simple but elegant.

Now, I know some of you are going to have an issue with this next one, but if anyone could wear it,
the eternal risk-taker Cate Blanchett could...

In addition to Cate's lilac-hued gown, there were a few other dresses in the purple family last night. My favs were Mila Kunis' lavender Elie Saab gown and Natalie Portman's magenta Rodarte dress:

Another favourite dress of mine was Annette Bening's Naeem Khan gown - so different, but so right. She looked gorgeous and I loved the green earrings.
Matthew McConaughy's gorgeous Brazilian bombshell girlfriend, Camila Alves, looked STUNNING in her black Kaufmanfranco gown. I also loved her hairstyle and accessories.

Another lovely Latina, Penelope Cruz, looked effortlessly elegant in a fiery L'Wren Scott number:
Red was, in fact, a hot color at this year's Academy Awards. But my favourite red dress was the D&G gown Selena Gomez wore to the Vanity Fair Oscar Afterparty (try to ignore Justin Bieber if you can...there weren't any solo pics of her). Simply gorgeous.
I loved some of the dresses here, but Halle Berry was probably one of my faves! Lovely blog, now following :)
